    What are the chronic illnesses your child has?

    Does this article help you understand where those illnesses might be coming from?

    What other thoughts, comments, or questions do you have about his topic?

    1.-My son has aspergers or autism, I really do not know the difference.
    2.-Well I understood that he has a block somewhere, now the big question is how to help him to “back on Track”????
    I am willing to learn, but you have not say anymore…

    Estela:

    1) Autism and Asperger’s are different diagnoses within a set of Developmental Disorders called Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD). The diagnostic criteria are “officially” defined in the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual (currently the DSM version IV). This is where psychologists and psychiatrists would look to find the specific symptom set to precisely diagnose whether a child is Autistic, Asperger’s or Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS, which is the catch-all diagnostic bucket when the symptoms don’t fit the predefined set for an Autism or Asperger’s diagnosis). But, for our work we do not need these kinds of diagnosis, because we are not psychological or medical.

    2) We have created this Internet site to help parents get their children back on track, instead of having to come to our offices and work with us directly in Montevideo, Uruguay, South America.

    We make our living doing this work in our offices and we believe we can help more children get back on track if we are providing this service over the Internet.

    So far, I’m building up this site which describes how it is possible to get your child back on track. And as I do that, with your input, we will figure out how to provide this service to many more people and at a reduced rate.

    So, probably there will be an ebook, which you can buy from this site which will be more specific about how you can get your child back on track. But, even with that ebook there will be some other services you will need.

    An integral part of the process will be some testing. And that testing is expensive. So, we are exploring how to provide that testing at some kind of reduced rate.

    Parents will need some training and coaching in how to make use of the test results and to provide the stimuli your child needs to catch up with others his age. So, we will probably have some kind of teleconferences which will provide that training and coaching.

    =====================

    We need your input to make sure we put together a program that we know will work and which parents like you are comfortable with following.

    So, we will have a series of teleseminars in the next couple of months (Aug & Sept 2010) in which we describe more about the program and you get a chance to ask specific questions about our program.

    We will also ask you to complete a survey to give us more precise information about how to structure the program online so that it matches your needs.

    ============================

    In the meantime, go through this little mini-course and respond to the questions after each article. Parents like you need to understand our process to be able to follow it, and these articles AND your commentary will help you and others get much more clear about what we do and why it works, as well as get more clear about what you will have to do to make it work.

    Thanks for your participation, I appreciate your question.
