Have You Seen This Video About Alternative Treatment for ADHD?
Can An Alternative Treatment For ADHD, Hyperactivity, or LD Be Effective?
Is it possible for one approach to be effective for all kinds of Developmental Disorders? Is it possible to have an Alternative Treatment For ADHD?
There Is No Cure
For all of the Developmental Disorders (ADHD, Hyperactivity, Poor Impulse Control, Attention Deficit, Learning Disability, Any Other Developmental Disorder, Such as Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dysgraphia, Auditory Processing Disorder, Failure To Thrive, Global Developmental Delay, etc. . .) There is no effective treatment because there is no cure for any of them.
- Because there is no cure, there cannot be any “effective” treatment.
- Does this mean there is no effective alternative treatment for ADHD?
What Would Be An Effective Alternative Treatment For ADHD?
- An Effective Alternative Treatment For ADHD, Hyperactive behavior, and Learning Disability would be one where the theory and the practice of that program are based on a belief that your child can become totally normal.
- An Effective Alternative Treatment For ADHD would not be restricted in their beliefs by the “normal” paradigm in which no cure is possible.
- An Effective Alternative Treatment For ADHD would be based on a belief that the ADHD child will become normal and will catch up with peers.
Why Is There No Cure?
- Developmental Disorders are the result of the developmental process being blocked.
- The child’s symptoms are signals that the developmental process is blocked.
- Those symptoms are used for the diagnosis.
- Current approaches try to fix the symptoms.
- But, those symptoms are not the problem.
- An Effective Alternative Treatment For ADHD would not ‘treat’ symptoms and would focus on the child naturally returning to normal.
Researchers and Practitioners are Shooting At The Wrong Target
- Symptoms are signals that the developmental process is stuck.
- Reducing symptoms does nothing to re-engage the stuck developmental process.
- An effective approach for developmental problems will be to re-engage the stuck developmental process,
- And then encourage it to catch up with peers.
- This would be an effective alternative treatment for ADHD.
Put This Into Perspective
- If you had a plumbing problem in your home,
- Where the water was not flowing properly,
- You would discover what was blocking the flow, and
- Remove that blockage.
- You would not decide that the water will never flow properly, nor decide to permanently reduce your expectations for water.
- An Effective Alternative Treatment For ADHD would involve a belief that something is blocking the normal developmental process, removing that blockage, and encouraging the child to catch up with peers.
Educational Training Programs
- Try to teach un-teachable children
- As much as possible
- So those children
- Become adults with developmental problems.
Behavioral Training Programs
- Try to teach un-teachable children
- As many coping skills as possible
- So these children
- Can survive as adults with developmental problems.
Medical Treatment Programs
Provide the children with medicines to suppress the symptoms enough for the parents and teachers to tolerate the behavior so that the children can learn as much as possible and grow up to be adults with developmental problems.
These certainly do not seem to be effective, and they do not represent an alternative treatment for ADHD.
