Fish Are Shaped Like Boats

“Fish are shaped like boats.”
This is what my 4th grade teacher told our class. Right away, I understood that this was not a useful piece of information. Obviously, boats are shaped like fish.
Dinosaurs
I also remember that my 7th grade teacher was talking about dinosaurs as if they were somehow inferior, because they could not adapt to environmental changes and were extinct because of this evolutionary flaw. I accepted this information until I had a chance to think it through.
The evidence is that we humans have been on this earth for maybe 100 thousand years. How can we have the audacity to think that dinosaurs were somehow inferior to us, because they could not adapt to environmental changes. Dinosaurs were thriving for 160 million years on earth. Who is more likely to win the longevity race?
Decline of The Roman Empire
One of the theories of the decline of the Roman Empire is that lead was used in making bread or in piping water through their cities and homes. There is a lot of evidence that lead poisoning was evident throughout their populations.
When I first heard this, I thought that surely they would have known that lead was poisonous. Then I remembered that the concept of a “lead pipe” was in our language as late as the 1950s. We have stopped using lead pipes in our construction (and lead in our paints) because we have figured out that lead is harmful for us humans. So, it was in my lifetime that we modern folks have shifted away from lead as a construction material.
Our Modern Culture’s Decline
Is our modern cluture also on a decline because we are using things in our food and in our bodies which are harmful to our health?
Certainly scientists are aware that mercury is harmful to humans, but our bodies continue to be exposed to mercury in tooth fillings and in flu shots. And, our government approves of this practice.
Body Burden
There are many things which are harmful to us, which our bodies absorb from our environment. Body Burden is the name of this load of inappropriate chemicals we carry around with us.
Some of these chemicals are natural substances we have absorbed such as mercury, lead, and other elements which science has verified are poisonous for us humans.
Others chemicals are synthetic chemicals, which are part of our scientific or manufacturing (and now agricultural) processes.
For instance, flame retardant chemicals are commonly found in the blood and fatty tissues of adults and children. Even infants are loaded with flame retardants, because everything around infants must have these chemicals in them by law.
Teflon is another of those synthetic chemicals which is showing up in our bodies. How do we get it? Teflon molecules are shed during the cooking and cleaning process and the Teflon molecules end up on the food so we eat the foods with Teflon and it gets into our bodies. Cleaning our Teflon pots and pans puts Teflon molecules into the water (used in cleaning) and in the air around us. We absorb some molecules through our skin and we breathe in more.
Pesticides are also in our blood and fatty tissues. These come from the foods we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink. In the past we could wash our foods or take away the surface (skins) of fruits and vegetables to reduce our exposure to pesticides. But now, the pesticides are part of the genetically modified foods we eat. So, our pesticide body burdens are mounting.
Reduce Our Personal Body Burden
We must do two things to reduce our personal body burden. We must limit our personal exposure and detox our bodies to get our body burden down. But, this is too big a topic for this post.
Government Needs To Change
Our governments are powerless in the face of the financial influences of Big Biz, Big Chem, and Big Agra. Science is clear that our growing body burden is dangerous. But, governments cannot make the sweeping changes that would be required to safeguard all their population from the effects of the current practices of manufacturing and agriculture.
People in our modern world are complacent. As long as we are complacent we will continue to grow our body burden.
Why Is Body Burden Important To Us?
There are many who believe that our environment is contaminated with things which are harmful to us. There are many who believe that our rising levels of body burden are causing our immune system to react to this unnatural invasion.
As our nation’s body burden is rising, the number of children with Developmental Disorders is going up with it. I think there is a direct relationship between the levels of body burden and the levels of Developmental Disorders.
If you child has some Developmental Disorder, you need to be thinking about and working with your child’s immune reaction to these environmental contaminants.
What are your thoughts about body burden, our contaminated environment, and your child’s Developmental Disorder?
